Trigger finger
Conservative:
Ultrasound, iontophoresis, kinesiotaping and/or splinting
Trigger finger s/p release:
2 weeks post-op: Swelling control, heat/pain modalities, scar massage, desensitization, AROM of digits
3-4 weeks post-op: Ultrasound PRN, may initiate of gentle strengthening and progression as pain level and swelling allow.
DeQuervain’s Conservative:
Pt. is fitted with a forearm based wrist and thumb splint to be worn for at least 6 weeks. Ultrasound, iontophoresis, heat modalities, massage, kinesiotaping and light AROM of the wrist and thumb will be addressed in therapy. Pt. is educated in how to alter activities to prevent reoccurrence of symptoms.
DeQuervain’s s/p release:
10-14 days post-op: Swelling control measures, heat/pain modalities, scar massage, desensitization, AROM to wrist and thumb are initiated.
3-4 weeks post-op: May initiate of gentle strengthening and progression as pain level allows.
Lateral Epicondylitis Conservative:
Paraffin or Fluidotherapy, Ultrasound, iontophoresis, kinesiotaping, massage, conditioning of wrist extensors (Nirschl exercises) once pain is minimized. Pt. is educated regarding how to minimize symptoms by altering wrist and forearm position during ADLs and to decrease repetitive activities.
Lateral Epicondylectomy:
2 weeks post-op: Swelling control, massage, heat/pain modalities, AROM elbow, forearm and wrist
3-4 weeks post-op: addition of gentle strengthening as pain level dictates
